Does Intermittent fasting help to lose weight? Why?! And how?!
Does Intermittent Fasting Help In Losing Weight? How To Do Intermittent Fasting For Weight Loss
What do you think about intermittent fasting? Is it all about starving, skipping meals, delaying breakfast etc…? Let’s go ahead and see how practical is it to do and what are the myths around it!
It is not a type of diet - It is a time pattern:
Firstly, intermittent fasting only tells you that you need to eat at a certain period of time which is referred to as the eating window and the rest of the time is the fasting time.
How to practically follow intermittent fasting:
For example, on an average if a person sleeps for 8 hours in the night, this time can be considered as intermittent fasting as no food is being consumed.
Now, extend this 8 hours to 12 hours by doing household chores, personal works or any physical activity. When the calories consumption is less and the calorie burning is more, what you achieve is weight loss.
What are those methods that one can follow:
16:8 method:
It means - fasting for 16 hours with an eating window of 8 hours
Means, if the dinner time is at 8 pm, the next meal is at 12 noon the next day. During this time, except water, it is not advised to eat or snack on anything to reap effective results.
It is tough to begin with this aggressive fasting window.
So, it is advised to begin with a 12:12 pattern.
5:2 method:
It means - eating normally for 5 days and fasting for 2 days. This suits people who cannot be strict on their timings and food intake during the weekdays and have just the weekend to focus on..
It is still a tough method to follow for anybody as restricting to 500-600 calories for every two days a week may be a bit overwhelming.
What are the effects of intermittent fasting?
Weight loss is the major benefit that anyone can get instinctively.
In addition, it helps in streamlining the blood sugar level. It therefore helps the people who are under the risk of diabetes.
Now, what is new?
It is only re-referring to our ancient Indian traditions and practices. Since the older generations, fasting is incorporated as an integral part of the system for good health and well-being.
Intermittent fasting has taken a novel shape these days because of our fast generation’s wrong eating habits, irregular timings and stressful lifestyle. It is all done at the cost of our health and metabolism which in-turn affects the whole digestive system.
Food is a fuel - Not an entertainer:
Every living being on the earth consumes food only when hungry. We, humans are the only ones that consume food when we get bored, and choose food itself as a recreation.
This causes unnecessary digestive issues which in the long run are responsible for chronic diseases.
Do a regular cleansing:
Our body naturally detoxes and cleanses itself when it is given a chance by not giving it the extra burden called extra food. Therefore, let’s help it in the process
